MARBLE

MARBLE started making garments in December 1995, out of a designer's refusal to keep producing what the market already had; a catalogue followed in January 1997 and a shop in Shinsaibashi, Osaka in March 1997. Press coverage brought orders at once, and the label was supplying other shops before the gothic-Lolita boom of around 2000.

Its self-description: classical gothic and elegant styles mixed with cuteness, sold as high-impact decorative fashion. The label warns that counterfeit sites carrying its images — it names FlowerFairyDaily and ROMWE Fairycore — are not it. Its own sales run through the Shinsaibashi shop and its online counter.
